Magpie arrived with her friend Meadowlark who we had to put down. Magpie has some severe injuries to her hind legs that may yet still end her life. We are hopeful that we can pull her through.
She has an old eye injury that causes trouble and needs daily attention, which she will now get.
She has damage from her halter being left on. Hopefully the hair that has been rubbed off will grow back.
Her skin is thickened and her hair missing from constant rubbing.
Rubbing due to lice, and who knows what else, has caused bald patches all over her body, right to the tips of her ears.
Thank you everyone who has donated bandages and funds for Magpie! We've made a good start in collecting what she will need!
Magpie is doing well, just relaxing in the sunshine and healing. She seems happy and comfortable.
It's been nearly three months. Magpie's wounds have finally healed enough that we can start to work on her teeth and eyes. BIG milestone!
Magpie's teeth were a mess! Now she will no longer be in constant pain from sharp edged teeth constantly cutting into her cheeks!
It has been 105 days of caring for Magpie's wounds. The vet is coming out tomorrow to hopefully tell us that her right leg can be unwrapped too!
Magpie is looking 100 times better, thanks to the TLC of our volunteers, Natalie in particular has made Magpie her project. Thanks Natalie!
She's gonna make it!
Magpie has been Adopted by our wonderful volunteer Natalie. She is now home and cherished. We'll post some lovely summer photos soon!
