Busy, busy, busy!

Well, it's been an interesting week!

After many weeks of trying, it became apparent that Shindig's big buddy was just not going to accept him.  He was just too scared of the little guy!  LOL  However, the big horse had been friends with a pony mare before, so we thought that perhaps Sierra would be more acceptable to him.  We swapped them on Friday and it's so far, so good!

I had been monitering some concerns from Sam and Poppy's adopter as well.  Sam was just not settling into his role at their new home.  He was picking on Poppy quite a bit and being very controlling.  Their adopter was trying very hard to give Sam the benefit of the doubt and hoping that he would settle down, but it was just not safe for the whole family to be around the Minis when he was so unpredictable.  So, I suggested that Shindig would be an excellent replacement for Sam.  We swapped them on Sunday and it's looking very positive there as well.

So, we have Sampson back here at Pipsqueak Paddocks and up for Adoption again.  He needs to be a companion for a large horse, or another Mini more like Kipper who can hold his own with him.  Those two are great pals.

Storm was gelded and had his teeth done on Friday.  We had finished up and were sitting there waiting for him to wake up.  Waiting and waiting... and waiting.  Then, all of a sudden, when he was still laying flat out, he let out a huge whinny and rolled right up.  It was the funniest thing!  LOL

Kipper has also had an adventure this week!  We were sad to hear that Prairie's big buddy passed away suddenly.  Prairie was very stressed out and left all alone at his farm.  So, Kipper has gone for a little vacation!  He and Prairie get along great and Kipper is getting LOTS of exercise at the farm!

Foxtrot is still at Kay Veinotte's farm learning to drive... they just won't let him go as they are having so much fun with him!  He is really excelling and enjoying the work and attention!  www.veinottehorsefarm.ca

Let's see... who am I forgetting?  Oh yes, Plum!  Plum has started a more intense program of exercise and massage.  We are hoping to spend the next couple/few months helping his muscles develop properly.  He still has a chance to not require the operation to keep his legs from locking.  We're giving him the best shot we can.  The operation would stop his current problem, but causes destabilization and arthritis in the long-run.  He cannot have the operation until he is three, so we're taking this time to work with him and possibly save him the trouble.

Jupiter and Mully are doing just fine as well.  It's been a busy week or so of comings and goings and they seem to have enjoyed the excitement.

Oh yes, and some personal, but Mini-related, news too!  I was elected the President of the BC Miniature Horse Club at the AGM this past weekend!  I am really looking forward to serving the Club members and their Miniature Horses!  I would like to encourage all Miniature Horse enthusiasts in BC to join the BC Miniature Horse Club and/or their own regional Clubs.  There are many great activities for people of all ages and Minis of all types!  Go to:  www.MiniatureHorsesBC.com
