Wow, it's been a while! Sorry for the delay in writing here, but I've been ill and busy! Food poisoning right before Christmas put me out of commission for a while and then I had to catch up on everything!
Everyone is doing really good. Bolero is totally healed up from his gelding and infection. He is now up for adoption! We tried him out as a leadline pony with some kids and he did great! He is so patient and tolerant! He is nine hands high and very "shetlandy", so we are willing to let him go out as a leadline pony for kids up to about 40 pounds. He is a real trooper!
Mercury is busy stuffing himself and gaining weight. He has energy to spare now and entertains himself by running around his paddock like a madman! Very fun to watch! He is still battling a lice infestation and so can't be let in with the others unfortunately. His rain scald scabs are all healed up, but he's still got a very patchy coat. Once he sheds out this summer, he'll be a different horse altogether! I'm going to weigh him this weekend to see if he's put on enough to have his gelding surgery. His eyes look like they are healed as well, we'll keep a good watch on them to ensure that the infection does not come back.
Prairie is doing well with his manners lessons and is healing up from his gelding surgery. He is on antibiotics as his incisions were looking a little infected. We wanted to nip that in the bud after the hassle of dealing with Bolero's major infection! Prairie is really missing his buddy Rufio as nobody else likes to play! LOL
Rufio has been at Jonathan Field's place for the last week and he'll be staying for one more! Liz is doing an amazing job with him and the progress reports sound very promising! He is now learning how to work with people, instead of just letting people do things to him. Basically, he's learning how to have fun and relax! He is really the most uptight horse I've ever seen! LOL I am so relieved to hear how well he is doing, I wasn't sure if he could change.
Mulligan and Jupiter are doing good too. Mully has a sore leg, but it looks like it is healing. We had the vet out to check him over and it looks to be a bruise most likely. He hurt himself when we were out on a walk as he was being his usual bratty self and bucking! LOL
