Jonathan Field comes a callin'!

Well, a week or so ago, I emailed Jonathan and asked if he had any students in the area who would be willing to volunteer their time and work with Sable and Rufio.  I was starting to get anxious about the slow progress we were making.  I've never had two tougher ponies to tame and I am concerned that their feet will deteriorate, nevermind getting them vet-checked and gelded!

Yesterday, I got a phone call... it was Jonathan himself!  He said that he could drop by and spend some time with the boys.  He made sure to tell me that it wasn't going to be a cure-all, no miracles,  but that it would hopefully get things moving a little more quickly for us.

WELL!  By the end of the night, I was leading Rufio around and petting him all over!  Jonathan had done some round-pen work and then some rope work to get him to that point.  We left a halter on him in order that I might catch him and continue working with him.  When I arrived at the Paddocks this morning, the halter was laying in the dirt.  So, I just walked up to Rufio and put a new one on him!!!  I led him around a bit and patted him, then took the halter off again.  I won't be needing to keep one on him.  Jonathan did indeed make a little miracle happen.

Sable is proving to be a little tougher, and it got dark before he could take him the same distance as Rufio.  But, I have some exercises to do with him now to hopefully bring him along as well.  All in all - it was a terrific day and I can't thank Jonathan enough!  I'm sure his back is a little sore today because he's not used to working with such short little monsters!  Hahaha!  Thanks also to his family for hanging out with us!
