What a busy day! We went to Jonathan Field's this morning to pick up Rufio, he's spent the last week with Liz! The difference is amazing! With all of the hard work there, he has progressed beyond simple fear and can now be taught proper behaviour. He has been invited back after the holidays, and I was shown what to work on with him in the meantime. Though I still don't feel that he'll ever be suitable as a child's mount, he will definately be able to have a healthy, full life with positive human interaction! He'll be a great companion and perhaps a cart pony! I am looking forward to working with him now and I am much relieved!
Then, I spent some time with poor, bedraggled Mercury. He has been looking like a drowned rat lately. I am hesitant to blanket him due to his rain-rot and lice. The vet agreed that he's best left to the air. So, I decided to try blow-drying him! He stood very nicely and WOW, does it ever work! I was able to dry him, get all of the granular scabs off of him, and he looked very clean and fluffy! LOL
Then Stephanie, on of our volunteers ,came and we brushed horses and took some for walks.
All in all, it was a very fun day and we got a lot accomplished. Prairie was VERY happy to have his buddy Rufio back! Here are some pictures from the day!
Here is Liz with Rufio...

And the boys reunited!

A VERY dirty Prairie! LOL
