Hellllo!
Well, the sun has finally come out and the horses are loving it! Rufio is still away at Jonathan's, so Prairie gets supervised play-dates with the other Minis. He is such a goofball and is all over them, so we have to be there to rescue them if he gets too rambunctious. Mercury loves to run with Prairie, but we've clipped him and so I don't let Prairie get too rough with him. Bolero trots as fast as he can, with all his body a-jiggling. Prairie pushes him and nips him and he squeals like a girl every time. It's pretty hilarious. I really should get a video - maybe I can do that today! Mully doesn't get to play with the big boys - they would squash him! Plus, his leg is still sore - so he just watches.
Prairie is now up for adoption. His incisions have healed nicely and he's just a-ready to go! He needs a home with ponies, horses or Minis just as energetic as himself. He loves to play!
Bolero is also ready to go. He needs a home that can keep to his diet and exercise program! He is sooooo chubby still and does not lose weight very easily. I tried on our biggest harness to see if I could get him in cart, but he's too round! I will be looking into borrowing a pony harness! Carting would be great for him!
Rufio is still at Jonathan Field's place, working with Liz and Jonathan. They just think he's a hoot and he's been invited to hang out for the time being. I am so excited to see his progress! I was thrilled with him after the last session, so he will be amazing this time, I'm sure! We can now catch and handle him and he was pretty good for the farrier too!
Mercury has a schnauzer cut. We treated him for his lice infestation, but he was so filthy and perhaps irritated by the powder that he was still creating new bald patches by rubbing himself raw. So, we picked the warmest day and bathed, blow-dried and clipped him. He looks a little funny, but at least now we can see and treat all of his patches. He is bald around both ears, both flanks, patches on his neck and back and a huge one at his dock. His skin is thickened in some places from being constantly irritated. We are hoping that he will feel soothed once his skin has recovered from being shampooed and dried. He wears a blanket on rainy days with a turtleneck underneath at night.
