Hi folks!
Well, I haven't got any new pictures for you, but I can fill you in on what's been going on at any rate. Let's see now...
Rockstar and Opal will be heading off to their new home tomorrow. They have really bonded at the Foster Home and their permanent home sounds just wonderful. I'm happy to see them go somewhere together.
Bobbysox is still hanging out at his Foster Home. He is learning and teaching every day. He is a very interesting case and I can't wait to meet his future family, whenever they appear. He is very challenging, but also very rewarding to work with. Never boring - that's for sure!
Rhapsody is making great strides to becoming a "normal" horse. Cinnabar has joined him at Four Seasons and I can't wait to here how he's doing there. I expect his progress will be much swifter than Rhapsody's, but we'll have to wait and see.
Hula is also making a move tomorrow. She is going to a new Foster Home. She's spent this year up in Columbia Valley and is now moving to the Fort Langley area. She has done a complete turnaround in her attitude and health while in the care of Sunnyvale Miniatures. They did a marvelous job of bringing her back to good health and giving her a place to relax and enjoy human and horse companionship. Her time there worked wonders for her! Thanks so much Heather, John and Sunny!
Tuffi and Blizzard have some interest now too! There's a good chance they will be going to a new home next month - we'll see! Tuffi has had a hard autumn, but she is on the mend now. She had caught a cold in the summer and it aggravated some of her chronic issues. She's had bloodwork done and luckily it is just surface issues, nothing too major. A round of antibiotics fixed up her breathing and snotty nose. She had her nasolacrimal ducts flushed for the second time today and it was much better today than two weeks ago. I am treating her eyes aggressively to hopefully keep the inflamation down so that they can clear up for good this time. That along with a bruised foot has had her a tad miserable in the last month, but she's feeling much better now! She is such a sweetheart, I don't even have to halter her anymore to administer her eyedrops and oral meds.
The Three Amigos are the main attraction around here these days. They have turned into very friendly little guys. They are looking much better overall, now that they have been treated for lice and worms. Lucky Day was gelded this morning, but Li'l Ned and Dusty were not quite ready. All three have Adoptions pending and Ned and Dusty get to have Garnet for a big brother. Garnet now lives in the Big Paddock with all the little guys, Mulligan included. Ned, Dusty and Garnet get to go home in the beginning of November and we'll be sure Lucky goes to his new home on the same day or just prior so that he's not lonely here without them. All four of those boys are getting wonderful homes.
Jet is still hanging out and getting plumper every day. Well... I wouldn't exactly call him "plump" yet, but at least he's no longer hollow. I am hoping that he'll be fit enough to be gelded in November, but we'll see. He's about ready to start with physical therapy to help him develop those muscles. He's an interesting case because he's not "bouncing back" from being starved - he was born into it. He has never had the right muscles and so he is building them from scratch. He is walking much better now, but he is far from normal. His progress is constant though, so I do have hope that he will be fit within a year.
And that leaves Mr. DJ. He is just a big ol' softy! Diamond Jubilee is just so very handsome and mellow. Someone is coming over from the Island for the Mane Event next weekend and they are bringing their trailer. I have a feeling that DJ may be riding off into the sunset very soon!
Speaking of the Mane Event... we will be having a booth there again this year. Please feel free to stop in, say HI and introduce yourself. I love hearing that someone out there is actually reading all this and that you guys out there care about the Minis too! We'll likely be switching off Garnet, Blizzard, the Three Amigos and maybe DJ too in our booth display throughout the weekend. See you there!
