Pub Night Fundraiser

Last Monday evening was a lot of fun!  Hopefully we've got everyone on this list of donators for the Silent Auction and supporters!  Every little bit helped, so THANK YOU to everyone who helped out!

Here is a little article that I wrote about the evening.  Again, thank you all!

I got an email a couple of months ago from Marilyn Pay and her daughter Tara (Four Seasons Equestrian Centre). They wanted to put on a fundraiser for the Minis here at Pipsqueak Paddocks Miniature Horse Haven Society. Was that okay with us?

I had to stop and think a moment. Our little rehabilitation and rehoming operation has been growing in leaps and bounds since we went “official” over two years ago. (73 Minis in total, last year we took in twenty-five. This year, weʼve had twenty-five come in already and weʼre only in September!) So, we have been learning to accept help when it is offered.

Our support has been growing with our number of incoming Miniature Horses. I have been truly amazed at the kindness of folks who just love little horses too. We have been blessed with some terrific volunteers, foster homes and now - fundraising coordinators! We readily agreed with their plans to put on a Pub Night Fundraiser for Pipsqueak Paddocks at the Fort Pub in Fort Langley.

What an amazing evening it was! Nearly 100 people bought tickets for the event. We had over 80 items donated for a fabulous Silent Auction, as well as a raffle and door prizes. The host was the very talented Elvis tribute artist, Brad Cooper. He can really sing!  Brad was a fantastic MC as well and kept the evening rolling along nicely. The food was great, the atmosphere awesome and the company, so much fun! I just sat there, soaking it all in. What a truly humbling feeling it is, to realize that your own little dream can grow to matter to so many other people.

Marilyn and Tara were aiming to raise $1,000 for the Minis here. That would have been fabulous and a huge help! So, imagine my surprise when Tara called me the next day and gleefully announced that the evening had actually brought in $3,200. We are now well prepared for winter and confident that no Mini in need will be turned away. I tell you, there is no better combination than little horses and big hearts.
