Rhapsody and Triumph have arrived! These two boys are terribly neglected. Rhap is a little bit better off health-wise, but he wants nothing to do with humans. He is very smart and even cunning. I can see him thinking and planning. He talks to Triumph in nickers and tells him to come to him and keeps him away from me. He is protecting Triumph. I've never seen anything quite like it, the closest type of thing would be the relationship between a mare and foal. Triumph has barely come up for air from the piles of hay, but Rhap plays lookout and keeps watch over him.
Triumph weighs 30% less than he should. He should be at least 225 pounds, but is only 160 pounds. He has got a long road ahead of him. We had to lift him into the trailer as he just did not have the muscles to jump in.
Both boys are wormy, full of lice and have skin infections from itching so much. Triumph also appears to have an old injury to his eye. Their feet are quite overgrown as well. Triumph is sweet, but quick to kick if he gets overwhelmed. Rhap resigns himself once caught, but stays on hair-trigger reflexes. Neither of them trust me yet. It's going to be an interesting winter.
Here is Rhap protecting Tri from me and the camera. They are dusty from the lice powder.

Rhapsody in Brown. Can't you just see the wheels turning in there?!

Triumph. You can see his crest and shoulder bone sticking out. His neck is just skin, all hollowed out.

Triumph's winter coats hides a lot of his problems. In this picture, I am cupping his hip bone. My hand is just resting on him, pushing the hair down.

Here is his backbone, it sticks out about two inches.

And here's the pair, with Triumph snugged up in blankets. We want his body to concentrate on gaining weight, not keeping warm. You can see how he cannot stand correctly due to lack of muscle.
