Hi!
Well... everybody is doing good. Mulligan and Jupiter are good buddies and spend their days hanging out. Sometimes I open the gate to let them mingle with Rufio while I'm out there. All three just hang out trying to eat grass through the fence. Haha.
Rufio is doing very well. I halter him almost daily to work with him. He has learned to tie and I am just treating him like any other horse when I groom him. I had to cut his forelock though... I KNOW, I KNOW... it was gorgeous, but he really couldn't see me or my hand coming sometimes! It is safer for he and I that he have a full range of vision. I'll get a pic soon for ya'll and you can sigh with disappointment... it WILL grow back - don't worry! Hahaha. I have finally discovered something about him though that will take a lot of work. He does NOT like to pick up his feet. I'm sure he'll come around with daily work, but it's a bit stressfull for me as he sometimes tries to bite and kick during the process. We're taking it slow and he has improved already. I want him to be safer for the farrier to work with, though she is great with the rescues.
Sable is doing awesome as well. I work with him almost daily too. He is tying, though he sometimes forgets that he can't go anywhere! Haha. I work around him as if he were a normal horse and he sometimes gets surprised, but handles it well. He is pretty good about his feet, just has one hind that he's more sensitive about. I don't let him mingle with the little guys as he already has a family very interested in adopting him and if a horse isn't going to be with us very long, I don't risk the injuries that interaction can potentially bring. Both boys will be gelded on Wednesday. If all goes well, and as long as he keeps progressing with his handling, then Sable may very well be in a new, loving and permanent home by the end of the month!
Here are a couple of pictures of Sable from a few days ago, it was nearing dark... so they aren't the best...
